Monitoring agenda

The monitoring agenda drawn up by the Marine Information and Data Centre provides a general overview of the North Sea chemical and biological monitoring programmes.

The monitoring agenda drawn up by the Marine Information and Data Centre provides a general overview of the North Sea chemical and biological monitoring programmes.

The monitoring agenda is available to everyone and contains the following information:

  • an overview of monitoring locations (position, route or area) on a digital map of the North Sea;
  • a general overview of the monitoring networks operating at these locations;
  • information about the monitoring schedules for taking samples at the monitoring locations;
  • a reference where additional information on the relevant monitoring network can be found.

Geoviewer

The information is visualised in Geoviewer (opens in a new screen).

Monitoring agenda

In Geoviewer, you can easily select an object or an area on the map on which you require more information. You can use the point query function for an object or the rectangle query function for an area.

A list of the monitoring networks operating in the selected area will then appear on the left. A monitoring network can be selected with the mouse to obtain information about that network as well as the corresponding monitoring schedule; a reference to an external internet location offering further information is also provided for most monitoring networks.

The Show Help function at the top right of Geoviewer enables you to consult an extensive Online Help feature containing all functions available in Geoviewer.

Monitoring data cannot be retrieved, because the monitoring agenda is not a data portal.

Missing monitoring locations

Certain monitoring points may not yet be included in the monitoring agenda. Monitoring carried out on a project basis, for example, is not included at present. If you note that monitoring locations are missing, please let the Marine Information and Data Centre know.

Additions can be communicated to Serge Rotteveel. He can be reached on +31 6 53156511.
